Application of 21436-03-3. Let’s face it, organic chemistry can seem difficult to learn. Especially from a beginner’s point of view. Like 21436-03-3, Name is (1S,2S)-Cyclohexane-1,2-diamine. In a document type is Article, introducing its new discovery.

Recently, various host materials have been developed for solution-processed thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes (TADF-OLEDs). Compared with small-molecule hosts, polymeric hosts are advantageous for inducing a uniform distribution and segregation of dopant molecules in the emissive layer without undesired large-scale phase separation. In this study, new polymer hosts were demonstrated, in which a bipolar conjugative moiety consisting of a carbazole (Cz) donor and an alpha-carboline (alpha-Cb) acceptor was bound to the polystyrene backbone through a non-conjugated linker. They exhibited high triplet energies of >2.8 eV, and their emission spectra overlapped with the absorption spectrum of a green TADF emitter, which allowed facile energy transfer from the polymeric host to the small-molecule dopants. High device performance was observed, with external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of 13.65, 17.09, and 17.48% for solution-processed green TADF-OLEDs using PSCzCz, PSCzCb, and PSCbCz, respectively, as hosts for the EML. The EQEs of bipolar host (PSCzCb and PSCbCz)-based devices were higher than those of unipolar host (poly(N-vinylcarbazole) and PSCzCz)-based devices owing to the well-balanced charge-carrier transport. According to these results, the polymeric host bearing a bipolar Cz and alpha-Cb coupled moiety is a promising material for solution-processable TADF-OLEDs.

A catalyst don’t appear in the overall stoichiometry of the reaction it catalyzes, but it must appear in at least one of the elementary reactions in the mechanism for the catalyzed reaction. 1806-29-7, Name is 2,2-Biphenol, molecular formula is C12H10O2. After preparing a biphenyl derivative possessing two 2,3-difluoro-1,4- diphenylbenzene units, we investigated its phase transition behaviour. It showed a phase sequence of isotropic liquid-nematic phase-anticlinic smectic C phase. A mixture with a chiral additive with a high twisting power exhibited a cubic blue phase and/or an amorphous blue phase III (BPIII). The compound doped with 10 wt% of the chiral additive showed a phase sequence of Iso 85.4 C BPIII 70.6 C cubic BP 47.3 C chiral nematic 37.3 C unidentified smectic phase. We investigated electro-optical switching in BPIII and in the cubic BP of the mixture. Transmittance without an applied electric field in the BPIII was 0%, whereas that in the cubic BP was 4.6%. Threshold and driving voltages in the BPIII are lower than in the cubic BP. Furthermore, the BPIII exhibits no voltage-induced hysteresis effects on transmittance. Amorphous BPIII has superior potential for use in next-generation displays.

The introduction of a trifluoromethyl (CF3) group can dramatically improve a compound?s biological properties. Despite the well-established importance of trifluoromethylated compounds, general methods for the trifluoromethylation of alkyl C?H bonds remain elusive. Here we report the development of a dual-catalytic C(sp3)?H trifluoromethylation through the merger of light-driven, decatungstate-catalysed hydrogen atom transfer and copper catalysis. This metallaphotoredox methodology enables the direct conversion of both strong aliphatic and benzylic C?H bonds into the corresponding C(sp3)?CF3 products in a single step using a bench-stable, commercially available trifluoromethylation reagent. The reaction requires only a single equivalent of substrate and proceeds with excellent selectivity for positions distal to unprotected amines. To demonstrate the utility of this new methodology for late-stage functionalization, we have directly derivatized a broad range of approved drugs and natural products to generate valuable trifluoromethylated analogues. Preliminary mechanistic experiments reveal that a ?Cu?CF3? species is formed during this process and the critical C(sp3)?CF3 bond-forming step involves the copper catalyst. Condensation of the O-protected hydroxyferrocene carbaldehyde (Sp)-1 with suitable diamines, followed by liberation of the hydroxyferrocene moiety leads to a new type of ferrocene-based salen ligands (3). While the use of ethylenediamine in the condensation reaction yields the planar-chiral ethylene-bridged ligand [(Sp,Sp)-3a], reaction with the enantiomers of trans-1,2-cyclohexylendiamine gives rise to the corresponding diastereomeric cyclohexylene-bridged systems [(S,S,Sp,Sp)-3b and (R,R,Sp,Sp)-3c], which feature a combination of a planar-chiral ferrocene unit with a centrochiral diamine backbone. Starting with the ferrocene-aldehyde derivative (Rp)-1, the enantiomeric ligand series (3d/e/f) is accessible via the same synthetic route. The (Sp)-series of these newly developed N2O2-type ligands was used for the construction of the corresponding mononuclear bis(isopropoxy)titanium (4a/b/c), methylaluminum (5a/b/c) and chloroaluminum-complexes (6a/b/c), which were isolated in good yields and identified by X-ray diffraction in several cases. The aluminum complexes (5/6) were successfully used in the Lewis-acid catalyzed addition of trimethylsilylcyanide to benzaldehyde, yielding the corresponding cyanohydrins in 45-62% enantiomeric excess.

A synthesis of thiol group functionalized crown ethers is reported. The reaction is accomplished by the direct chlorosulfonation of simple crown ethers with chlorosulfonic acid and the reduction of the sulfonyl chloride moiety with LiAlH4 in two steps. This new process is simple to operate, and it generates high-purity mercaptobenzocrowns with excellent yields. Copyright Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
