In situ generated cationic (eta3-substituted allyl) palladium N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes are air-stable active catalysts for the olefin polymerization of (bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-yl)methyl acetate (5-norbornene-2-methyl acetate) (endo:exo = 7:3). Catalytic activities, polymer yields, molecular weights, and molecular weight distributions of polymers were investigated under various reaction conditions. The catalytic activity was highly dependent not only on the reaction condition such as a solvent or the reaction temperature but also on the structure of the catalyst that include substituents of the allyl group in the catalyst and the counter anion. As the bulkiness of the allyl group increased, the catalytic activity of the catalysts increased.

Note that a catalyst decreases the activation energy for both the forward and the reverse reactions and hence accelerates both the forward and the reverse reactions.Safety of 1,3-Bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolium chloride, you can also check out more blogs about250285-32-6

The present invention relates to catalysts of transition metal complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes, their methods of preparation and their use in chemical synthesis. The synthesis, ease-of-use, and activity of the compounds of the present invention are substantial improvements over in situ catalyst generation. Further, the transition metal complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes of the present invention may be used as precatalysts in metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.

Phosphinidenes [R-P] are convenient P1 building blocks for the synthesis of a plethora of organophosphorus compounds. Thus far, transition-metal-complexed phosphinidenes have been used for their singlet ground-state reactivity to promote selective addition and insertion reactions. One disadvantage of this approach is that after transfer of the P1 moiety to the substrate, a challenging demetallation step is required to provide the free phosphine. We report a simple method that enables the Lewis acid promoted transfer of phenylphosphinidene, [PhP], from NHC=PPh adducts (NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene) to various substrates to produce directly uncoordinated phosphorus heterocycles that are difficult to obtain otherwise.

The simple synthesis of a family of palladates containing an imidazolium counterion is presented. These “ate” complexes can be easily converted into well-defined palladium-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes. The synthetic protocols leading to the “ate” and to the Pd-NHC neutral complexes have been exemplified with various NHC ligands. The palladates prove efficient pre-catalysts enabling Suzuki-Miyaura and Mizoroki-Heck reactions.

A new type of N-heterocyclic carbene-PdCl2-(iso)quinoline complexes 3 were successfully achieved in acceptable to good yields from easily available starting materials under mild conditions, and their structures were unambiguously confirmed using X-ray single crystal diffraction. Furthermore, their catalytic activity toward Buchwald-Hartwig arylamination of aryl chlorides with primary and secondary amines was fully tested. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the expected arylated amines can be obtained in high to excellent yields at low catalyst loadings (0.005-0.05 mol%). It may be worth noting here that comparison of these complexes with other well-defined and easily available NHC-Pd(ii) complexes bearing different N-containing ancillary ligands was also carried out, showing their superior catalytic activity over all others.
