The condensed benzene ring with 15-crown-5 ether molecule brings about an increase in the exothermic effect of solvation of the crown ether in the mixtures of water with organic solvent.

l-Pipecolinic acid derived N-formamides have been developed as new Lewis basic organocatalysts that promote the asymmetric reduction of N-aryl ketimines using trichlorosilane as the reducing agent.
